Charlie M: We had a lovely week at 8 West End. The house is just off the main road with great views of the coast. The house was spotlessly clean and fresh. The beds had new linen and were very comfortable. The house was just like a home from home. It has wifi and a drawer full of DVDs to aid relaxing after a day of exploring. There is also a number of books all about Islay to help plan what to see and do. The house has set central heating and we were warm and cosy throughout our stay. We tended to eat in and the big co-op at Bowmore had everything that we needed. The village has places to eat, we are ‘Yan’s Seafood and Grill’- we cannot recommend it enough. The secure garden was also great for our dog too. Thanks for a lovely holiday, great comfortable base that was excellent value for money.

Charles, Worthing West Sussex: *At 8 West End you are always given a warm welcome it is a very well appointed house which is clean and comfortable well maintained and warm when it is cold outside with an open fire as well as central heating. The house has 3 bedrooms two of which are upstairs with a one bed single down stairs.TV and CD/radio are available. There are plenty of books available to chose from and jigsaws to for those wet days when you do not want to venture out. Outside there is a large garden which backs onto open fields the small front garden has a bench in a sun trap. The front of the house enjoys views over the loch and there is easy available parking. A shop is available for basic needs only a short walk away and a 10 minute walk takes you to the Port Charlotte Hotel where food & drink and entertainment is available a few minutes further on is Yans Kitchen another good place to eat. We would recommend this property

Dougie Mac, Glasgow: We found No8 to be exactly as described on the accommodation schedule. It was extremely comfortable, spotlessly clean and the owners were very helpful and friendly. The house is ideally located for Islay’s many treasures and we would highly recommend it. Five minute walk from the Lochindaal Hotel…Wonderful seafood platter !

Mags, Glasgow Scotland: Visited Islay many times, never dissapointed, regardless of weather. The house is in great location, very quiet, wonderful views, friendly people.Nothing is too much trouble for owners, they are very welcoming and helpful. The house is very clean and tidy, with all you could wish for, lovely large back garden, great for children and pets.Lots of eateries, for both snacks or more elaborate meals,in beautiful hotel nearby.Superb beaches, great walks, lots to photograph,if that’s your thing.I would suggest some form of transport,to reach the more out of the way places,it would be a pity to miss anything. All in all would highly recomend both the owners and the place,if you want to explore a beautiful part of Scotland, and stay in comfortable accomodation, looking forward to this year!

Redfurry, Manchester: We arrived later than expected, due to missing the ferry, but the owner came to visit us,and offered us an extra day,but unfortunately we had to return on the Friday. The house was extremely comfortable, warm, and well-equipped.Previous guests had left things like salt, pepper, tea, coffee which was very useful. The house was close to the centre of Port Charlotte, and ideally situated for visiting the Islay distilleries. The roads were very narrow in places, but drivers seemed to be very courteous.
